Who We Are
Families come from far and wide for a Waldorf Education. Learn more about what makes Waldorf School of New Orleans so unique.
Waldorf Education:
Learning to Change the World

Learning to Change the World is our motto, but what does that mean? To us it has a double meaning. It means we aim to give our students an education that imparts the tools and skills to solve any problem they encounter. It also means that our philosophy is one that sets out to make the world a better place. Lofty ambitions? Perhaps. But once you meet our students, you'll see why we have full confidence in them and our approach that helps to shape them into the thoughtful, conscientious, and unique people they are.
Waldorf School of New Orleans is an Associate Member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America (AWSNA) and a Full Member of the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North American (WECAN). Also, we are approved as a private school by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE).

Our Mission & Values Support Your Child's Development
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to awaken and draw out each child's individual strength and integrity, allowing them to become a free thinker; a courageous seeker of truth and knowledge; and an empathetic, enthusiastic participant and innovator in local culture and global society.
School Values
Environment & Sustainability
Whether it's Forest Kindergarten Day or a field trip to the French Quarter, our students learn to appreciate the natural world in their urban environment and to feel confident in navigating their surroundings. We instill a social conscience by recycling, composting, energy efficiency, and using natural cleaning products.
Media Mindfulness
Our school culture sees Screen Time as an impediment to creativity and child development. We encourage families to allow their children the freedom to grow without the limitations that screens present.

Diversity
We welcome, value, and actively seek racial, religious, economic, and cultural diversity, including single, dual, or multiple parent households and LGBT parents, faculty, and/or students. We are committed to having our school community further reflect the abundant diversity of New Orleans.
Service
We strive to provide students with opportunities to see themselves as engaged citizens who can make a difference in the world.
