Admission Procedure: Early Childhood Program

1. Preliminary School Visit (Optional)
Attend an Open House or School Tour. It's a great way to see the school; meet teachers, staff, and parents; and learn more about Waldorf Education and the Waldorf School of New Orleans.

2. Application and Fee
Please submit your admissions application. There is a non-refundable application fee of $50.

3. Records Release
Once the application form has been submitted and fee received, documentation of any prior schooling/daycare is required to complete the application. Please download and sign the TADS “Authorization for Transfer of Student Records” and submit it to your child’s current school/daycare. They may upload documents directly to TADS or fax them to WSNO, as they prefer, and as indicated on the Authorization form. If your child is currently receiving therapy of any kind, or has an academic or medical evaluation, please forward those records to us, as well. Kindly follow up with the current school to ensure timely transfer of your child’s records.

4. Interview
After your application and all records have been received, an in-person interview with faculty will be scheduled for viable applicants. Please note that unless otherwise specified in advance, this is a parent only interview

5. Play Date
Based on the interview, your child will be invited for a play date in the Nursery or a Kindergarten Classroom. For the play date, your child visits the classroom for 1.5 to 2 hours without a parent. Please fill out the Play Date Authorization Form provided at your interview, and return it with your child the morning of the scheduled play date. A second playdate is sometimes requested, for the faculty to get a clearer picture of the child.

6. Admission Decision
Once the visit has been completed, parents will be notified by the Enrollment Director of the admission decision, and of any additional requirements.

7. Agreement to Enroll
If your child is invited to join the Waldorf School of New Orleans, your acceptance is required within five business days. Students are admitted to a class in the order in which their enrollment is finalized, with:
-
Remittance of your non-refundable $1200 deposit
-
Acceptance of the billing agreement.
We are unable to hold a spot without a deposit and a billing agreement.
Please complete your child’s registration online, under the “Enrollment” tab in TADS: Required information includes a copy of your child’s birth certificate, immunization records, and current physical exam. Once these requirements are fulfilled, we will confirm your child’s first day at Waldorf School of New Orleans!

8. Wait-Pool
Once a class is at capacity, a wait-pool is established. Our teachers make the final determination of who will be admitted to their classes, as seats become available.
