Each school year begins with a beautiful rite of passage known as The Rose Ceremony. The entire school looks on as the 8th Graders welcome the new 1st Graders to the school by presenting them each with a lovely red rose. The First Grade teacher then begins a story, then leads her class back to their classroom, where the 1st Graders discover their new classroom and the teacher finishes the much-anticipated story.
This tradition is not only a school tradition for us, but has a long history extending back to the very first Waldorf School, which opened its doors in 1919. Learn more about the meaning behind the Rose Ceremony.
