To protect the health of the community, Waldorf School of New Orleans will follow Gov. John Bel Edwards’ Monday announcement that schools in the state are to remain closed for the remainder of this academic year due to COVID-19.
Although our students cannot return to our school building, I want to assure you that their education will continue. Our teachers will work even harder than usual to adapt to this new way of teaching and learning by recording video lessons, and receiving and responding to dozens of emails daily in addition to planning curriculum and assessing student progress. Despite these challenges, we are committed to ensuring that every student continues to receive an exemplary education that nourishes innate curiosity, inspires a lifelong enthusiasm for learning, and fosters reverence and joy.
In addition, the Administration Team has been meeting every day – and will continue to meet – to find ways to access additional funding and develop new ways to keep our school operating and growing. In the coming days, we will share updates with you regarding our plans as we move forward.
This has been new territory for all of us, but we learn more every day about how to adapt to this temporary way of life. I want to recognize our teachers, and staff for their diligence in upholding the high standards of Waldorf Education under challenging circumstances. But most of all, thank you to you, parents and students for your resilience, your flexibility, and your continued dedication to Waldorf School of New Orleans. The success and sustainability of our school depends upon your support, and we do not take that for granted.
